About Us

When my dad, John, started showing signs of early-stage dementia, I moved him in next door to look after him and gave him Dolly - one of my two dogs - for company. I began sharing life with Dad and Dolly on social media and many people remarked on his style.

That’s when I started noticing his clothing more and digging through his wardrobe. There were so many pieces I remembered from growing up, as well as some ancient discoveries I’d never seen before. All timeless, well-made and cared for - each with their own story and memories.

The idea for our Dad & Dolly clothing project grew from there.

About Dad

Born in 1936, Dad spent his childhood in Queens, New York before the family moved to Hicksville, Long Island when he was a teenager. His loved cars and ice cream, and wanted to be a cowboy when he grew up.

When he left High School, he got a job fixing car engines before becoming an army reservist and earning a place at the United States Military Academy, West Point.

After graduating from West Point in 1960, he served in the US Army with the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii (otherwise known as “Tropic Lightning”).

Four years later, he decided to swap fatigues for a suit and returned to New York to join the corporate world. In 1967, he took a position in London where he met and fell in love with my English mum, settled and raised his family.

His American roots, colourful, well-lived life and values are reflected in his wardrobe – a quality wardrobe full of meaning and memories that has been cherished and cared for.
